Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Ltd has signed an MoU with Tata Motors Ltd on September 12 to establish 200 fast-charging stations for electric commercial vehicles (CVs).
The charging stations will be located in major metro cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, supporting the growth of electric vehicle (EV) adoption across India.
Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, will lead the infrastructure development, while Tata Motors will provide insights into the specific needs of electric CVs. This collaboration focuses on offering seamless and accessible charging solutions, designed especially for small electric CVs.
At the time of writing, shares of Tata Motors are trading at ₹996.80, reflecting a 1.08% gain over the previous close. Over the last year, Tata Motors has gained 59%, with a 26% rise since the beginning of this year.
Both Tata Motors and Tata Power will offer exclusive charging tariffs to electric CV owners, aimed at reducing operational costs and enhancing profitability for businesses.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote sustainable mobility and improve EV charging solutions for commercial vehicles. Vinay Pathak, Vice President at Tata Motors, emphasized that the partnership will boost the electric CV landscape in India by offering fast and convenient charging options.
Tata Power’s EZ Charge network currently includes over 1,00,000 home chargers, 5,500+ public and semi-public charging points, and 1,100+ bus charging stations in over 530 cities and towns. Deepesh Nanda, CEO of Tata Power Renewable Energy, highlighted the company’s push to expand its EV charging network, particularly for the commercial vehicle segment, offering integrated and efficient charging solutions.
