Indian stock markets experienced a sharp drop on the first trading day of the week, mirroring declines in international markets. The BSE Sensex plummeted by 1,272 points, closing at 84,299. Similarly, the Nifty, the benchmark index for the national stock market, fell by 368 points to end at 25,810.
While companies like JSW Steel, Hindalco Industries, and Tata Steel recorded gains, others such as Hero MotoCorp, Trend, Axis Bank, Reliance Industries, and Bharat Electronics saw declines. Only metals and media stocks managed to gain about one percent, while most other sectors, including automobiles, banking, IT, pharmaceuticals, and real estate, experienced significant losses, falling between one and two percent.

Gold prices fell by ₹15 to ₹7,800 per gram, while silver prices remained stable at ₹101 per gram. The price of bullion silver is ₹1 lakh per kilogram.
